Role Overview: 

 McAfee company currently looking for a good Software Development Engineer, Test/ SDET to work in the team that is in charge of creating Windows anti-malware software solutions. This is a work from home position and the candidate should be from India. Working as an SDET at McAfee you will be engaging with developers, researchers, customer and product teams to identify, verify, define how to automate and then build solutions to the current threat scenarios. 

 

About the Role: 

 You will be participating in ensuring that McAfee’s anti-malware applications are robust, effective and of high quality as an SDET. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

 1. Developing and Adhering to Quality Assurance Principles: 

  • You will create guidelines of quality assurance, develop and integrate procedures for application in the testing of the software, to improve on quality. 
  •  Correct quality complaints/ issues and document them in order to preserve the quality of the final product. 

 2. Training and Collaboration: 

  •  Find and perform all training throughout the company to guarantee that the corresponding teams obtain the necessary knowledge to sustain software quality. 
  •  Cooperate with the internal stakeholders focused on system analysis to align the latter with the software quality objectives across the product development phase. 

 3. Automation and Testing: 

  • Automate the functional as well as non-functional tests to make the products secure, stable, and reliable. 
  •  Conduct code review/white box testing to catch issues before they are bundled and be an active/informal member of an Agile team. 

4. Proactive Problem-Solving: 

  • Be active in recognizing and reporting the contingencies faced and assessing them in addition to proposal of solutions to ensure the pathway of the project is maintained. 


 About You: 

 McAfee is looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

 1. Educational Background: 

  •  Computer science or any other related degree from a recognized institution such as a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree. 
  •  Relevant work experience of up to three years in software development or quality assurance. 

 2. Technical Skills: 

  •  Advanced level of programming knowledge in Python and experience in an object oriented programming language such as C++. 
  •  Knowledge of test approaches, tools and practices; should have experience working with Test and Defect management tool like QAC and Bugzilla. 

 3. Soft Skills: 

  •  Communication skills and strong cooperation with the team members as well as good problem-solving and time management abilities along with the capacity to work independently. 

 4. Testing Experience: 

  •  Experience in doing comprehensive functional, regression and non-functional testing like performance, soak testing. 

 5. Additional Skills: 

  •  Additional knowledge in GenAI is also an advantage. 
  •  Primarily, the candidate should have experience with performance tools, SDK white box testing, data center and VM.

A Day in the Life of an SDET at McAfee:

 As an SDET at McAfee, your typical day might look like this:

 1. Morning Stand-Up: 

  •  Attend the daily Agile stand-up meeting and discuss the current progress, problems, and the expected activities for the day. 

 2. Collaborative Planning: 

  •  Collaborate with developers and security researchers to understand new features and design automated tests to validate these features. 

 3. Automation Development: 

  •  You have to spend the major part of your working day, writing and supporting automatic test scripts in Python, and checking all new functions. 

 4. Code Reviews: 

  •  Look at the code developed by other members in the team and assess the quality, pointing out several issues that need to be corrected. 

 5. Functional and Non-Functional Testing: 

  •  Functional and non-functional testing should be conducted such as performance and soak testing to approve the product quality. 

 6. Problem-Solving: 

  •  Recognize possible problems, inform the team about them, propose and put forward measures and work out the ways of their solving. 

7.  Documentation: 

  •  Record all observed defects throughout testing and provide comprehensive information to help in solving them. 

 8. Training and Mentorship: 

  •  Teach others about QA principles and tips for testing in various meetings such as training or workshop meetings. 

 9. End-of-Day Review: 

  •  Summarize the day’s activities and set the coming day’s activities aligning them with the set goals and objectives.
